Kia ora koutou,

Those wanting to know more about how Māori interests will be reflected in the NZ-UK Free Trade Agreement and what it will mean for our future trading relationship are invited to join a webinar this week.

Trade Minister Damien O’Connor recently announced New Zealand and the UK have committed to accelerating their free trade agreement negotiations with the aim of reaching an agreement in principle this August.

In light of this, New Zealand Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) are facilitating a Zoom webinar, Kōrerorero: Promoting outcomes for Māori in the NZ-UK Free Trade Agreement.

Panellists will be New Zealand’s Chief Negotiator, Brad Burgess, and the chapter leads for intellectual property and environment.

The webinar runs from 9am to 10am, Thursday, 8 July, 2021. RSVP and send any questions you want answered to UKFTA@mfat.govt.nz by 5pm 7 July 2021.

It is vital Māori voices continue to be heard throughout the negotiation process to ensure our interests are reflected in the new free trade agreement.

Ngā mihi,

Chris Karamea Insley
